Buying a new laptop could be a daunting task for the average computer user since nowadays there are many different brands and within each brand there are different models. When buying a laptop it is important to take into consideration the following 5 tips.
1. The first thing to take into consideration is the amount of RAM or memory that the laptop has. Do not consider any new laptops which have less than 2 GB of memory especially if they have windows vista as their operating system. Another thing to check if you can upgrade the memory though this is best done by an authorized technician.
2 .The next item you need to take into account is the battery life of the laptop. As many laptop are a bit overweight, and hence do not increase life of the battery. If fully charged, the batteries need to be able to power the system for a minimum of three hours. To prolong the battery life, every now and then fully drain the battery and then recharge again.
3. Another thing to take into account is the disk space. Go for a laptop that has at least 250 GB hard drive. As nowadays with the advent of digital cameras one tends to store the photos and videos files in the computer. Add this up with music content and you could end up with a full hard disk in no time. As hard disks get full they also drastically effect the performance of the laptop.
4. The fourth thing to take into consideration is for what you are going to use the laptop for. Is it just for internet browsing and messaging and the use of the occasional office product such word or excel. In this with today’s hardware specifications a low to medium end model would be enough. On the other hand if you are going to use the laptop for high end games or video editing then you would need to buy a top of the range model which could cater for these resource hungry applications.
5. The last thing but not least to take into consideration is how much you are willing to spend for your new laptop. As it will be if no use that you want a high end laptop but you are not willing to spend that much for it. If you choose a laptop but it is just out of your budget I would suggest if the store that you are buying from offers hire purchase terms.
By considering the above points you will get a better picture what you need your computer to do for you. Next use this information to find the right laptop that will satisfy your needs.
